SINCE taking over the Lamb at Eastcombe, landlady and landlord Sarah Fesel and John Clarke have notched up an impressive tally of awards.

Most recently Sarah, John and their staff celebrated after gaining regional recognition for health and safety.

The pub in Dr Crouch’s Road beat 7,000 others across the South West to win the Innserve Best Cellar 2010 Regional Award, which recognises high standards of quality and hygiene.

Sarah and John also won the Innserve Best Newcomer Award 2010 for licensees

“To be a best cellar winner, beer lines need to be regularly cleaned, drinks have to be served at the correct temperature and glasses need to be cleaned properly,” said Sarah.

“We are very pleased and it just goes to prove that the standards we have in place are extremely high. It’s great news for the pub and recognition of the effort all staff put into raising standards.”

Always on tap is a wide selection of regular and guest cask ales, such as Sharp’s Doom Bar, Baths Gem, Butcombe Bitter, Greene King IPA,  St Austell’s Tribute & always a Guest Ale

Besides being singled out for the excellent quality of its drinks, including a range of real ales always on tap, this charming Cotswold stone country pub set in the picturesque Toadsmoor Valley has established a fine reputation for its food as well.

Head chef John has a wealth of experience and uses locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients wherever possible to create a menu and specials board of delicious traditional dishes
